Construction is complete on 115 East 55th Street, an 18-story residential building in Midtown East. Designed by SLCE Architects for Zeckendorf Development, the 185-foot-tall structure yields 71,961 square feet and 58 units. CM & Associates Construction Management served as the general contractor for the Midtown property, which is located on a relatively small plot between Lexington and Park Avenues, directly to the east of Norman Foster‘s 425 Park Avenue.
Nearly all of the exterior finishing touches have wrapped up since our last update in early March. The sidewalk scaffolding has been dismantled, revealing a curved canopy over the main entrance, which is flanked by a stone façade with arched windows and ornamental grilles that evoke New York’s classic prewar style. Some minor work is still in progress on the sides of the building around ground level.
Close-up shots show the details in the façade, including the metal and glass railings on each of the setbacks and Juliet balconies across the main southern elevation, and the mechanical bulkhead atop the roof parapet.
115 East 55th Street’s residential component spans 59,819 square feet, for an average unit scope of 964 square feet. Levels two through 12 will house four units per floor, followed by three homes per floor on levels 13 through 16, and a pair of full-floor penthouses will occupy levels 17 and 18. Residential amenities include a private gym and bike room tucked in the cellar, two meeting rooms, a lounge, and a 30-foot-long rear yard on the ground floor. A select number of homes have private outdoor terraces along the upper setbacks of the building.

This sure has a very beautiful prewar design. 115 East 55th is quite an interesting addition to the diverse block that it sits on, if you know what I mean.
This turned out just like the rendering, and has nice architectural detailing.
At the same time, it is protecting it’s “little baby”
townhouse on the right! 🤗
Not one building on the street coordinates.
Agreed. This is a handsome building, but it is in the wrong location.
Also agreed—it’s a nice l’il building…. But what kind of building do you put directly behind that behemoth 425 Park? Click on 425 in first paragraph for more pics of both buildings!
And now the owners will have the joy of 4-5 years of construction right next door on Park Avenue.
