Curtain wall installation is progressing on Athena LIC, a nine-story residential building at 27-20 42nd Road in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by ZL Capital LLC, the 100-foot-tall structure will yield 51 units spread across 45,016 square feet and 7,292 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The property is located at the intersection of 42nd Road to the north and Hunter Street to the south.
Construction has been swift since our last update in March, when work was still progressing below grade. Since then, the entire reinforced concrete superstructure was built and now the glass curtain wall is taking shape on the second and third floors. Metal clips attached to the edges of the upper levels signify the imminent arrival of the rest of the envelope. The exterior elevator hoist is attached to the corner of the building and sidewalk scaffolding covers the entire ground floor.

The project is located just one block away from the E, M, and R trains at the Queens Plaza subway station to the east. Also nearby are the 7, N, and W trains at the Queensboro Plaza station to the north and the 7 and G trains at the Court Square station to the west.
27-20 42nd Road is slated for completion next summer, as noted on the construction board.
