The affordable housing lottery has launched for Simba Simbi Seniors, an eight-story mixed-use building at 381 Chester Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Dunn Development Corp., the structure yields 157 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 108 units for residents at 50 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $0 to $60,050.
Amenities include bike storage lockers, a 24-hour attended front desk, a shared laundry room, common area Wi-Fi, gym, recreation room, business center, hobby room, elevator, and a landscaped courtyard garden. Units come with energy-efficient appliances, high-speed internet, and air conditioning. Tenants are responsible for electricity.
At 50 percent of the AMI, there are 52 studios with a monthly rent of $0 for incomes ranging from $0 to $53,400, and 56 one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $0 for incomes ranging from $0 to $60,050.
Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than May 26, 2023.

again this is good for the seniors, but also alot of affordable senior housing being built in some bad neighborhoods, will they build affordable low income senior housing downtown brooklyn, around prospect park area, well off to do neighborhoods? yes its great to have a place to live for our seniors, but also needed in the best of neighborhoods
