Construction is complete on SOLA, a 12-story mixed-use building at 72-01 Queens Boulevard in Woodside, Queens. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Eight West, an affiliate of The Hakimian Organization, the structure yields 364 rental units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, with 30 percent dedicated to affordable housing, as well as a 196-unit public parking garage operated by Icon Parking, ground-floor retail space, and a collection of amenities. The property is located within a large triangular block bound by 45th Avenue to the north and west, Queens Boulevard to the south, and 74th Street to the east.

Photographs show the building clad in a mix of red brick and black paneling surrounding floor-to-ceiling windows. Several setbacks are located on the upper levels and lined with metal railings for terraces.

  1. I think it’s a fairly good looking bridge but I do wish it complimented the stylish old NYCRR bridge over QB.

  2. Housing. Period. Maybe it will look more interesting at night.

The broken up facade is done quite well, although there’s too much glass as usual. Amenities for an additional fee will be an interesting experiment.

  4. Do-re-mi SOLA…. It’s right there.

There’s nothing to regret, if paying additional fees with those areas. Thanks to Michael Young.
