Permits have been filed for an eight-story affordable housing building at 498 Columbia Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Located between Lorraine Street and Creamer Street, the lot is closest to the Smith-9th Streets subway station, served by the F and G trains. Joel Braver of Express Builders JB Inc. is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 85-foot-tall development will yield 275,992 square feet, with 205,582 square feet designated for residential space and 69,409 square feet for community facility space. The building will have 371 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 554 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and ten enclosed parking spaces.

Demolition permits were filed in late 2024. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
