Construction has topped out on 289 Hudson Street, a seven-story residential building in Hudson Square, Manhattan. Designed by SRA Architecture + Engineering and developed by Ponte Equities, the 73-foot-tall structure will span 14,829 square feet and yield 15 rental units with an average scope of 688 square feet. There will also be 1,710 square feet of commercial space and a cellar level. The property is located at the corner of Hudson and Spring Streets, directly across from the recently completed Disney headquarters at Four Hudson Square.
The entire superstructure was constructed since our last update in mid-August 2024, when foundations were about to get underway. Scaffolding has been assembled around the building and blue netting covers the corner and northern elevation in preparation for façade installation. A hoist is attached to the eastern face.
The below rendering from the info board shows a red brick façade surrounding a grid of tall industrial-style windows with black mullions and spandrels. The ground floor will feature double-height frontage, and a metal canopy will hang above the main entrance on the northern side of the property.
The property was formerly occupied by a two-story commercial building, as seen in the following Google Street View image from before its demolition.
The nearest subways from the site are the C and E trains at the Spring Street station to the east on Sixth Avenue.
289 Hudson Street’s anticipated completion date is slated for January 2026, as noted on site. However, YIMBY expects work to finish up sometime later next year.
