Construction is set to commence on the West New York Middle School at 6400–6415 Broadway in West New York, New Jersey. Designed by DMR Architects, the 162,000-square-foot structure will accommodate 862 students from grades six through eight with 30 classrooms. The project will also include six science laboratories, a STEAM lab, dance studio, three art rooms, and separate areas for instrumental and vocal music classes. The property is located between 64th and 65th Streets.

Magnolia Gardens Opens At 39-03 College Point Boulevard In Flushing, Queens

Magnolia Gardens, a seven-story transitional housing facility, has opened at 39-03 College Point Boulevard in Flushing, Queens. Designed by Urban Architectural Initiatives and developed by Urban Resource Institute, the New York City Department of Social Services, and Asian Americans for Equality, the building yields 90 apartment-style units for homeless families with children. The project is described by the development team as the first purpose-built shelter of its kind in Flushing. Archstone Builders led construction for the project, which is located between 39th Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue, just east of Flushing Creek.

Residential Conversion Revealed for Former Jehovah’s Witness Headquarters at 25–30 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn Heights

New renderings have been revealed for the proposed residential conversion of the former Jehovah’s Witness global headquarters at 25–30 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by CIM Group, the project will involve a vertical expansion of two buildings in the former Watchtower Building complex and will yield 661 rental apartments, with 25 percent designated as affordable housing. The development will also include 113,000 square feet of commercial space and community facility space. The five interconnected office and warehouse buildings are located around the intersection of Columbia Heights and Vine Street, directly across from Hillside Dog Park.

Amstar Group LLC has acquired Henry Hall, a 33-story, 225-unit tower at 515 West 38th Street in Hudson Yards, Manhattan. JLL Capital Markets represented the seller, a joint venture of Shorenstein Investment Advisers and Dreamscape Companies, in the $129 million transaction. JLL also advised the buyer in securing $71 million in acquisition financing through U.S. Bank. The property is located between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues.
