Plans have been announced for a new medical center from NYU Langone Health in Melville, Long Island. Designed by Ennead Architects, the project will span over 1 million square feet and rise from a site located within the Huntington Quadrangle complex, directly south of the Long Island Expressway, east of Broadhallow Road and west of Maxess Road.
The rendering previews the structure clad in floor-to-ceiling glass and metal panels. The ground floor will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and two entryways for both visitors and emergency drop-offs.
The facility will feature over 500 private inpatient rooms, 70 emergency department bays, and advanced operating and procedure suites equipped with diagnostic imaging capabilities. The site will also include the tuition-free NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, space to conduct scientific research, and an expanded ambulatory footprint around the new campus to enhance access to comprehensive outpatient care.
The site is currently occupied by a two-building complex addressed as 3 Huntington Quadrangle that will require demolition. NYU Langone completed its $135.5 million purchase of the 45-acre parcel on May 21.

Construction is expected to create up to 8,000 union jobs on Long Island, with an additional 2,500 indirect jobs across the region. Upon completion, the new medical center will generate thousands of permanent jobs across the region.
The project still requires state and local approvals, as well as an environmental impact study that will solicit public commentary. A final construction price tag was not specified, but is speculated to cost at least $1 billion.
