Developer Selected for $200M Housing Project In East Farmingdale, Long Island

Heatherwood Communities, LLC has been selected by New York State as the developer for a new mixed-income residential development on State-owned land in East Farmingdale, Suffolk County. The proposed $200 million project, located on a 13-acre site along Conklin Street, would bring approximately 495 rental units to the area, including over 100 affordable units for households earning an average of 80 percent of the area median income. The selection follows a RFP process led by Empire State Development (ESD).

Five New Housing Developments Announced In Long Island

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a $26 million investment through the Long Island Investment Fund to support five new housing developments in Nassau and Suffolk counties. The projects, representing a total investment of $467 million, will create nearly 750 new housing units, including affordable, workforce, and transit-oriented housing. Work is being led by a combination of public and private sector partners, including Empire State Development and New York State Homes and Community Renewal.

New Semiconductor Research Facility Approved for Stony Brook University In Long Island

A new $20 million semiconductor research and development center is set to be constructed on the Stony Brook University campus in Suffolk County, Long Island. The project is being developed in collaboration between Stony Brook University and onsemi, the largest U.S.-based silicon carbide power semiconductor manufacturer. Supported by a public-private partnership, funding comprises an $8 million operational investment from onsemi and a $2 million grant from Empire State Development, with Stony Brook contributing $10 million toward renovations and equipment. The facility will be housed on the university’s West Campus Engineering Quad and is expected to be operational by early 2027.

Medford Gardens Breaks Ground In Suffolk County, Long Island

Construction has officially begun on Medford Gardens, a 66-unit affordable senior housing development located in the hamlet of Medford in Suffolk County, Long Island. Spearheaded by Governor Kathy Hochul and developed by the WellLife Network, the $40 million project is designed to provide supportive housing for seniors, with half of the units reserved for individuals in need of additional services. The development is expected to be completed by summer 2026.
