Permits have been filed for a six-story commercial building at 240 Huntington Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Located between the Gowanus Canal and Smith Street, the interior lot is one block north of the Smith-9th Street subway station, serviced by the F and G trains. Monadnock Development, a developer known for affordable and market-rate housing, is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 86-foot-tall development will yield 99,646 square feet, with 65,007 square feet designated for commercial space and 34,639 square feet for manufacturing space. The steel-based structure will also have a 40-foot-long front yard adjacent to the Gowanus Canal, a Superfund site.
Dattner Architects is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the lot is vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
