Construction is complete on Hillside Tower, a 25-story residential tower at 147-35 95th Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. Designed by JFA Architects and Engineers for Joel Weiss of Heartfelt Townhouse Build, the 254-foot-tall structure spans 720,248 square feet and yields 521 rental units with an average scope of 1,365 square feet, as well as 9,241 square feet of commercial space, 363 enclosed parking spaces, a cellar level, and a 30-foot-long rear yard. The formerly vacant property is located at the corner of 95th Avenue and 148th Street, directly adjacent to another new residential construction project at 94-15 Sutphin Boulevard.
Recent photographs show the finished look of the exterior, which features a distinctive façade composed of a patchwork of white, gray, and earth-toned paneling with a mix of smooth and fluted textures. The western elevation is left blank and windowless.

Amenities at Hillside Tower include a rooftop terrace, a fitness center, lounge, theater room, recreation room with pool tables and other games, a children’s playroom, business center with conference rooms, shared laundry room, bike storage room, pet spa, package room, virtual doorman, and private enclosed parking.
Nooklyn is handling leasing and marketing for the units.
The nearest subways from the development are the E, J, and Z trains at the Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue-JFK Airport station to the north. Also nearby is the Jamaica station on the Long Island Rail Road and the AirTran shuttle to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

I’m gathering my words…
This is a rather playful way of breaking up an otherwise overbearing flat facade. The fence enclosing the parking decks seems to spoil the appearance. The 1,365 SF apartments were surprising. Non-luxury area buildings tend to have smaller units.
Playful? It’s gigantic and hideous.
Looking at the listings on Streeteasy the nominal rents start at 3,000/month but huge discounts bring them to under 2,000. And the square footage of the units looks far smaller than the mere sizing of the building/number of units indicates.
Given the location it will be interesting to see who is attracted to this building.
(and the emphasis should be on the one block to the LIRR and two blocks to the E,J,Z, and not the indoor parking, though one can envision a person renting here, with a car, for the relatively quick get aways and safe returns at night).
Looking up brings confusion. Looking at the base brings disgust.
Wonderful amenities that aren’t currently offered at other buildings in the neighborhood currently. This building in particular might not be for luxury. However the area is very congested so any additional housing for people to remain in the neighborhood is pleasant. While also looking at the rent listed on streeteasy it can only make one wonder… once listed on housing connect which AMI’s will be catered to for this development!
Twenty years ago I had an argyle sweater from Express that looked exactly like this.
Haha, this is playful in some way. It’s really a modern take on the ghettos of Kowloon, Hong Kong or London.
Already had some colorful backgrounds for more playful graffiti. But, as long as the apartments are nice inside…
