A new rendering has been revealed for 19–29 Clay Street, a 14-story residential building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by INOA Architecture and developed by Investmates, the 156-foot-tall structure will span 86,742 square feet and yield 68 condominium units and 13,312 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The property is located near the intersection of Clay and Commercial Streets.
The above aerial rendering depicts the front southern elevation of 19–29 Clay Street with a light-colored façade of floor-to-ceiling windows, white metal paneling, and vegetation wrapping around the five-story podium. The superstructure sets back on level six, and the final eight stories feature numerous balconies with glass railings. A flat roof and bulkhead on the western end cap the building. It is unclear whether the opposite northern face will feature the same design.
Below is an aerial photograph looking oriented looking east at the site, which is currently occupied by a tall white tent and other machinery surrounding the temporary structure, which was installed over a portion of the land that’s being remediated.
The property was once partially occupied by a 94-year-old industrial structure, as seen in the below Google Street View image.
Investmates recently secured $81 million in construction financing from S3 Capital, which also provided a $12.15 million land loan in 2022 for the acquisition of the site’s three parcels.
The project’s condominium units are planned to be offered in one- to four-bedroom layouts, and most will include private outdoor space. Amenities will include a lobby, bicycle storage, a children’s playroom, coworking space, a fitness center, pet spa, and a landscaped terrace atop the multistory podium.
The nearest subway from the development site is the G train at the Greenpoint Avenue station to the south. Also nearby is the 7 train at the Vernon Boulevard–Jackson Avenue station to the north across Newton Creek.
19–29 Clay Street’s anticipated completion date is slated for the fall of 2027.

Should be twice as tall. It would look better taller as well.
A little height variety goes along way on a waterfront where every building is exactly the same height, think its a good thing
I think this is a good height because it steps down from the taller towers along the waterfront.
Lots of glass, but overall a good design that doesn’t look like all the other new towers.
Yes, cause it isn’t a tower, it’s a relief 🙂
It’ll add some character to that area, not bad. Appears to be of quality.
I hate all of these, but AB Architekten‘s proposal was slightly more elegant. Oh well.
