The Empire State Building has joined the race to attract new commercial tenants who demand an amenitized building for the next generation of workers. In an announcement from Empire State Realty Trust, current owners of the iconic property, the building’s amenity offering will be expanded to include a town hall meeting space for up to 400 people, a basketball court, a lounge, food and bar service, and an additional lounge with two golf simulators.

The Empire State Building has been undergoing a restoration project since June 2019 to return the iconic landmark to its original silhouette. Now in its final stages, photos reveal the restoration of the 1930s Art Deco luster on the Midtown edifice. Empire State Realty Trust, along with project managers JLL, master riggers from ColeNYC, and CANY Architecture and Engineering have joined forces to return the structure to its original architectural design.
For more than 40 years, the Empire State Building‘s observatory reigned as the loftiest manmade place on Earth. Though no longer the pinnacle of New York, the Art Deco masterpiece’s Olympian mass still cuts an uncontested figure in the popular imagination as a symbol of the city and is an enduring emblem of human might and ingenuity. Today, as the supertall enters its tenth decade, it welcomes visitors with a fresh new face, the product of a four-year, $165 million renovation to improve the experience for the 10,000-odd guests that stream through its doors each day.
Last year, 4.2 million people visited the Empire State Building’s observation deck through their Fifth Avenue lobby. What the visitors may not have realized is that office employees were using the same entrance. Thankfully, workers will no longer have to wade through crowds of wayward tourists every day. A new entrance officially opened yesterday for the famous Midtown supertall, designed to accommodate the large number of visitors and create a more engaging experience.
