New permits have been filed for a seven-story academic building at 556 New Lots Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Located between Hendrix Street and Van Siclen Avenue, the lot is one block south of the Van Siclen Avenue subway station, served by the 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains. Soly Bawabeh of Midyan Gate Realty No. 4 LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications. Previous plans called for a mixed-use building with a charter school and commercial space.

Plans Approved For Herkimer-WIlliams Affordable Housing Complex in East New York, Brooklyn

The City Council has announced a Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) approval for Herkimer-Williams, a four-building affordable housing complex in East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by WXY Studio and developed by Totem, the 345-foot-tall project will yield nearly 1,000 affordable homes. The development will also include 440,000 square feet of commercial space, 114,000 square feet of retail, 100,000 square feet of industrial space, 85,000 square feet for community facilities, and 25,000 square feet of publicly accessible open space.

Phase One of Alafia Mixed-Use Complex Opens In East New York, Brooklyn

Developers and officials recently celebrated the opening of the first phase of Alafia, a mixed-use community development in the Spring Creek section of East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed in a joint collaboration between L+M Development Partners, Apex Building Group, RiseBoro Community Partnership, and Services for the UnderServed, phase one features conjoined 12- and 15-story structures yielding 452 supportive apartments and a separate six-story building with 124 units. The project also features 7,800 square feet of retail space, 11.3 acres of public green space, and 15,000 square feet of medical healthcare space for One Brooklyn Health.

Urban Village Mega-Complex Moves Forward in East New York, Brooklyn

Plans to construct the 10.5-acre Urban Village mega-complex in East New York, Brooklyn, are now under review by the New York City Department of Buildings. The complex is being developed by Gotham Organization, Monadnock Development, and the Christian Cultural Center and is bound by Pennsylvania Avenue to the northeast, Flatlands Avenue to the northwest, and Louisiana Avenue to the southwest.

The Fountains, a 1,163-units affordable housing complex in East New York, Brooklyn is now 100 percent leased. Developed by The Arker Companies, the complex spans 35 acres and includes six buildings located at 11629 Seaview Avenue, 911 Erskine Street, 10 Schroeder’s Walk, 702 Vandalia Avenue, 881 Erskine Street, and 894 Fountain Avenue.

Renderings Reveal $1.2B Mixed-Use Alafia Campus in East New York, Brooklyn

Developers and New York State agencies have revealed renderings for Alafia, a 27-acre redevelopment project in East New York, Brooklyn. Located along Fountain Avenue near the Betts Creek waterfront, the $1.2 billion multi-phase campus will create 2,400 affordable apartments, a 15,000-square-foot outpatient medical clinic, retail space, multiple parking areas, and a mix of publicly accessible green space and recreational area.

City Council Approves 10.5-Acre ‘Urban Village’ in East New York, Brooklyn

The New York City Council has approved plans to construct Urban Village, a 10.5-acre mixed-use campus near the East New York waterfront in Brooklyn. The development team includes the Gotham Organization, Monadnock Development, and the Christian Cultural Center, the city’s largest mega church with around 37,000 active members.

Work has begun on the expansion and redevelopment of the historic Empire State Dairy Company Building at 2840 Atlantic Avenue in East New York. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by The Moinian Group and Bushburg, the project involves the partial gutting of the existing low-rise building to support a 14-story tower with 320 residential units, 12,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, and a new charter school. The entire property will comprise 370,000 square feet.
