Last December, YIMBY reported on the groundbreaking event for a 28-story mixed-use tower rising in New Rochelle, Westchester County. Ten months later, we have a new rendering and updates from the site, at 587 Main Street.
New Rochelle has seen several new high-rises announced over the past few weeks, but in between the new towers, infill development continues to improve the burgeoning edge city. Yesterday, The Printhouse, at 165 Huguenot Street, broke ground. The building will have 71 rental units, seven of which will be designated as affordable, and will rise six floors. Within the past few weeks, Long Island-based American Equity Partners filed applications and began the approval process to convert the 12-story, 350,000-square-foot office building at 440 Hamilton Avenue, located on the corner of North Broadway in downtown White Plains, into 245 residential units. A rendering of the project has also been revealed by the Westchester County Business Journal.
The White Plains Common Council has approved plans for a five-story, 62-unit mixed-use building at 136-158 Westmoreland Avenue, just south of downtown White Plains, in Westchester County. The project, dubbed Westmoreland Lofts, will measure 58,000 square feet, Westfair reported. It will include a 97-car parking garage, 2,700 square feet of light manufacturing space and 1,600 square feet of retail space on the ground floor for a microbrewery. The apartments above will be rentals, ranging from studios to two-bedrooms.
The City of New Rochelle, in Westchester County, N.Y., has launched a request for proposals (RFP) for the downtown development site at 45 Harrison Street, located on the corner of Cedar Street. The 30,492-square-foot city-owned site could accommodate a building up to 28 stories in height, the Daily Voice reported. A project could include a mix of uses, including residential apartments, commercial space, such as office or retail space, hotels, and/or medical or civic facilities. An existing two-story, 20,000-square-foot fire station currently occupies the property.
