The eighth-tallest building on our year-end countdown is The Spiral, a 1,041-foot commercial supertall at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 66-story skyscraper will yield 2.85 million square feet of office space. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor, Banker Steel provided the steel work, and Permasteelisa is the façade contractor for the nearly $3.7 billion project, which spans a full block between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues and West 34th and 35th Streets.

606 West 30th Street Tops Out Over Hudson Yards, Manhattan 

At number 22 on our December countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 606 West 30th Street, a 42-story residential skyscraper along the border of Hudson Yards and West Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by Lalezarian Properties, the 545-foot-tall structure will yield 312,350 square feet with 192,780 square feet for residential space and 14,240 square feet of commercial space. The building is also known as Tower B in a two-skyscraper development along with the adjacent 601 West 29th Street from FXCollaborative and Douglaston Development. Hudson 37 LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Eleventh Avenue and West Street.

Three Hudson Boulevard Remains On Hold in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Rounding out our Turkey Week rundown of stalled projects is Three Hudson Boulevard, a planned 56-story commercial skyscraper in the Hudson Yards district. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Boston Properties and The Moinian Group, the $3 billion project is planned to stand around 940 feet tall and yield 1.86 million square feet of office space, but has been on hold since early 2020. The plot occupies a full block bound by West 35th Street to the north, West 34th Street to the south, Bella Abzug Park to the east, and Eleventh Avenue to the west.

50 Hudson Yards Celebrates Grand Opening in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Last Wednesday, developers Related Companies, Mitsui Fudosan America, and Oxford Properties celebrated the grand opening of 50 Hudson Yards, a 78-story supertall commercial skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Designed by Foster + Partners, the 1,011-foot-tall structure is the largest building by volume in the first phase of the Hudson Yards complex and the fourth-largest in the city overall, yielding 2.9 million feet of office space. ArcelorMittal provided the steel components, R&R Scaffolding provided the BMU equipment, Langan Engineering is the civil and environmental engineer, and WSP is the structural and MEP engineer for the $3.8 billion project, which occupies a full block bound by West 34th Street to the north, West 33rd Street to the south, Tenth Avenue to the east, and Hudson Boulevard to the west.
