YIMBY recently took a tour of West End & Eighty Seven, a recently completed residential building at 269 West 87th Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, between West End Avenue and Broadway. Designed by FXCollaborative, the 17-story, 215-foot-tall edifice features a detailed exterior made of intricately laid bricks, with patterns that delicately catch the sunlight against their warm-colored finish. Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing is handling sales, and Champalimaud Design is the interior designer.

Columbia University’s Two-Building Expansion Progresses in Manhattanville, Manhattan

Exterior work is progressing on the two newest additions to Columbia University‘s Manhattanville campus. Named the Henry R. Kravis Building and the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Business Innovation, the two structures are designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with FXCollaborative and will yield 450,000 square feet of classrooms, faculty offices, and lounge areas. The buildings will be connected by a landscaped public plaza and green space designed by James Corner Field Operations. Turner Construction Company is in charge of building the two new buildings, and Skidmore Owings & Merrill designed the master plan for the overall Manhattanville campus.

Extell Reveals New York City’s Largest Private Outdoor Garden at One Manhattan Square in Two Bridges

In an effort to bolster sales at One Manhattan Square, Extell Development Company has unveiled an acre of private outdoor amenities designed by West 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture. Located in the Two Bridges section of Manhattan’s Lower East Side, the neighborhood’s signature tower stands 800 feet above the East River and now comprises 100,000 square feet of total amenity space.

Ten Questions With GID Development’s James Linsley on The Completion of Waterline Square

Construction on Waterline Square, a three-tower residential complex from GID Development Group on the waterfront of Manhattan’s Upper West Side, is finally finished. The site is situated across from the Hudson River and Riverside Park South between West 59th Street, West 61st Street, and Freedom Place South. Each of the site’s towers comes from three separate architectural firms: One Waterline Square by Richard Meier & Partners with interiors by Champalimaud;  Two Waterline Square by Kohn Pedersen Fox with interiors by Yabu Pushelberg; and Three Waterline Square by Rafael Viñoly with interiors by Groves & Co. Hill West Architects served as the executive architect for the entire master plan.
