Construction is rising on 3880 Ninth Avenue, an 18-story residential building in Inwood, Manhattan. Designed by JFA Architects & Engineers and developed by The Jay Group, the 170-foot-tall structure will span 211,000 square feet and yield 270 rental units with an average scope of 707 square feet, as well as 20,000 square feet of lower-level commercial space, a cellar, one commercial loading berth, and a 41-vehicle parking garage. Twenty-five percent of the apartments will be designated as affordable housing. 401 West 207th Realty LLC is listed as the owner and On Star Management LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 401 West 207th Street and located at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and West 207th Street.

Recent photographs show the reinforced concrete superstructure standing three stories high along the eastern half of the development, with metal shoring and wooden formwork helping the latest levels to settle. Rebar protrudes across the site where the remainder of the building will soon rise.

The main rendering looks north at the southern corner of the building, which rises uniformly up to the tenth floor followed by several sections of stepped setbacks topped with terraces. The bulk of the structure is clad in charcoal paneling framing floor-to-ceiling windows, with a grid of light gray panels breaking up the fenestration in three-story increments. Behind the setbacks, the façade transitions to light gray paneling, and an expansive roof deck is shown atop the northern end of the lower parapet.

Last September, The Jay Group closed on a $92 million construction loan for the building. A list of residential amenities has yet to be announced.

The nearest subway is the 1 train at the elevated 207th Street station to the west.

YIMBY anticipates 3880 Ninth Avenue will complete construction sometime in 2025.

    Big and kinda strange.

  2. Let’s just give all these apartments to these illegal migrants that’s a good idea along with the 53 million dollars Eric Adams about to give them

  3. Fantastic! 270 units where there used to be 0.

  4. Kind of a weird design for the neighborhood, but should have some great views of the trains! Hopefully they will actually be affordable.

From the gas station that used to be located, and change to the floors of this continuously increasing building. It’s not a waste of investment: Thanks.

  6. That corner has massive redevelopment happening on three out of four corners.

Might be the hottest residential development intersection in Manhattan at the moment.

Some people are obsessed with the migrants. Anyone who is fully employed or on a fixed income will qualify.
