Construction is complete on the Marymount School of New York’s newest school building at 115 East 97th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. PG New York finalized the project by working on the storefronts and canopies on 97th and 98th streets. Designed by COOKFOX and developed by the Marymount School of New York, the ten-story building spans 152,500 square feet and includes modern STEAM classrooms, a FabLab, athletic and dining facilities, a music room, chapel, prayer garden, and theater. The through-lot property is located between Lexington and Park Avenues with frontage on East 97th and 98th Streets.

Recent photos from COOKFOX show the finished look of the building’s exterior, which is composed of white terracotta framing a grid of floor-to-ceiling glass with dark mullions and ventilation grilles. The entrance sits recessed behind a black cylindrical column at the ground floor, and the building culminates in a flat parapet with multiple bulkheads.

The new school building also features multiple terraces, including several gardens and a dining terrace with an edible garden. The structure features a transparent commons at the center, bringing daylight to a series of staircases that stretch from a garden courtyard at the foyer to the top floor. The structure was also designed with sustainability in mind and has achieved LEED Gold certification.

I hope the prayer garden has an apple tree.

Does every new ground floor need to look like a strip mall?

    • Does every comment from you need to be negative? I think the lobby is rather nice.

You know I make positive comments too, so please do not misstate.
I’m talking about the entrance, which is completely inferior to the thoughtful and well detailed floors above. This snubbing of the pedestrian has become an all too common fashion.

David In Bushwick is a smart and reasonable commenter with both positive and (fair & reasonable) negative/constructive commentary.

If you’re looking for a truly bad and reckless commenter, watch out for Mayor Kenny. See the sh*tshow he started in the comment section for the 156-166 Bowery post from this past Sunday morning…🆘

        • I was looking for his comments actually lol

          • Search the most recent 2024 articles for The Vessel, Skylift at top of the rock, 64 university place, Wynn resorts master plan for Hudson yards , 100 west 37th street, 125 Greenwich street, funding approved for new port authority bus terminal,

They all sound like either unprovoked attacks, randomly explicit sexual innuendos, or like talking bitterly to your ex. He really needs help

        • Fair enough

I have seen that guys comments – unhinged

        • Obsessed much?

    • I’m sure the primary concern there is security.

  3. Wow. What is the tuition?
