Permits have been filed for a 22-story mixed-use building at 498 Union Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Located between Nevins Street and the Gowanus Canal, the lot is a short walk of the Union Street subway station, served by the R train. Charney Companies and Tavros Capital are listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 225-foot-tall development will yield 489,195 square feet, with 452,168 square feet designated for residential space, 32,081 square feet for commercial space, and 4,942 square feet for community facility space. The building will have 348 residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,299 square feet. The concrete-based structure will not have any accessory parking.
Fogarty Finger is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the lot is vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
