Construction has topped out on Scholars Village, a pair of 12-story buildings at 225 Phillip Street in Jersey City, New Jersey. Developed by Alpine Residential and designed in collaboration between GRT Architects and Ismael Leyva Architects, the structures yield 500 rental units, as well as approximately 4,000 square feet of retail space.
Residential units at the project are offered in configurations ranging from studios to three-bedrooms, many with floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the Manhattan skyline, Jersey City, and the Statue of Liberty. Select units will include balconies or terraces. Shared amenities are set to include a rooftop pool and lounge, landscaped gardens, a fitness center with CrossFit space, coworking areas, a demo kitchen, a children’s playroom, and a pet spa. Additional features include a concierge, bike and storage facilities, a TULU lending system, and on-site parking with EV charging.
Scholars Village is part of the broader SciTech Scity campus, developed in partnership between Liberty Science Center and the City of Jersey City. The campus will also house Edge Works, a business incubator; Liberty Science Center High School, a public magnet STEM academy; and three acres of outdoor Public Commons. The residential project supports SciTech Scity’s goal of creating a live-work-learn environment for scientists, entrepreneurs, and students.
“The Bergen-Lafayette Collection has enriched the area and community with the introduction of brand-new residential homes, along with highly regarded dining options and retail conveniences,” added Todd Schefler, managing partner of Alpine Residential. “SciTech City and Scholars Village will elevate Bergen-Lafayette’s profile, establishing the neighborhood as a destination for innovation, culture, and modern living. We’re excited to mark this important milestone.”
