Excavation is getting underway at 135-01 35th Avenue, the site of an 11-story residential building in Flushing, Queens. Designed by Raymond Chan Architects and developed by Century Development Group, the project is slated to rise from the corner of 35th Avenue and Farrington Street.
The above rendering was posted to the construction board showing a revised design scheme from the outdated iteration below. The building will stand three stories taller and will feature a similar multifaceted massing incorporating corner setbacks at the eighth floor topped with landscaped terraces. The gray brick has been scrapped in favor of an all-glass curtain wall divided by thin black mullions. A green wall is visible within the double-height lobby.
The above former proposal by developer Stenmax Realty Inc. from 2017 would have yielded 76 units, with 22 reserved for affordable housing, as well as office space, ground-floor retail, and a sub-grade parking garage. In 2023, permits were filed for nine-story building at the property. This iteration was slated to yield 98 units with an average scope of 734 square feet, along with a community facility.
It is unclear how many apartments the current revised design will contain, or whether other uses also be included.
The following photos show excavators, piling machines, and various materials scattered across the partially unearthed site.
The property was formerly occupied by a one-story commercial building, as seen in the below Google Street View image from 2021.
The nearest subway from the ground-up development is the 7 train at the Flushing–Main Street station to the south.
135-01 35th Avenue’s anticipated completion date is slated for fall 2027, as noted on site.

This is yet another “incursion” into the low rise industrial/warehouse district of Flushing west of Linden Place. Farrington St. has a number of nail salon supply distributors. The new building is across this street from a recent hotel.
It’s shiny, but a definite improvement from the earlier proposed monstrosity.
Definitely an improvement from the previous abomination 😩
