The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is set to review a proposal for modifications to 145 Wyckoff Street, a three-story, three-unit residential building in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. The proposal calls for a two-story rear yard extension, an 8-foot-deep full-width enlargement at the basement level, and an 8-foot-deep partial-width (7 feet 7 inches) enlargement at the first floor. Notably, the addition will not be visible from Wyckoff, Bond, Bergen, or Hoyt Streets.

145 Wyckoff Street is part of a row of modified Italianate brick houses constructed between 1867 and 1869, as noted in the Boerum Hill Historic District designation report included in the submission materials. The row is characterized by square-headed doorways with high stoops, molded lintels, arched enframements, and prominent roof cornices with modillions and bracket detailing. Most houses retain original brick basements separated by stone bandcourses, contributing to the uniform appearance of the block.

Project materials indicate that the proposed rear extension aligns with other alterations within the block’s interior “donut,” where 16 buildings have extensions of varying heights. The design includes new windows and a door at the secondary rear façade, with no proposed openings extending beyond the width of existing windows. The submission also notes that the stair bulkhead and rooftop mechanical equipment will not be visible from Hoyt Street. Proposed materials include clapboard siding at the extension, coal black painted windows, bluestone pavers, and brick to match the existing rear façade.

Transit nearby 145 Wyckoff Street includes the Bergen Street station, served by the F and G trains, and the Hoyt–Schermerhorn Streets station, served by the A, C, and G trains.

I would grant it provided they removed the paint from the street facade.

1867? Burrough President,or To Whom It May Concern, tear that building down. No building was meant to stand forever. If it’s not torn down, it will fall down.
