Renderings have been revealed for 625 Madison Avenue, a proposed 52-story skyscraper in Midtown East, Manhattan. Developed by Related Companies in partnership with Andrew Mathias and designed by Foster + Partners and Gensler, the structure is planned to yield 840,000 square feet of office space between the Plaza District office core and Billionaires’ Row residential corridor. The property is located between East 58th and 59th Streets.
The project was previously planned as a 1,264-foot condominium supertall, but the development team has pivoted to a carbon-neutral commercial scheme in response to the resurgent demand for prestige office space. The property is being marketed with asking rents that could exceed $400 per square foot, according to reporting by Lois Weiss for the New York Post.
The design depicts a contemporary glass structure with curved corners, polished steel framing, and integrated greenery oriented toward views of Central Park. The building will rise more than 600 feet and be organized into stacked office clusters. These segments will feature amenity levels with terraces along multiple façades, as well as a central amenity zone defined by triple-height glass rising approximately 30 to 40 feet.
The site was formerly occupied by a midcentury office building that once housed Revlon offices and Related’s headquarters. The property has been cleared following demolition work in 2025.
Transit nearby 625 Madison Avenue includes the N, R, and W trains at the 5th Avenue–59th Street station, as well as the 4, 5, and 6 trains at the Lexington Avenue–59th Street station.

LOVE!
Chase Manhattan bank downtown decomposed?!
What’s going on at the top? Will that cornice be lit up or just covering for mechanical elements?
Wow. From 1264 feet to 600 feet.
It looks taller the GE building to the west, which is 643 feet tall. So this one might be close to 700 feet, but no confirmed statistics. Does anyone else know this final height?
Not to be that guy but you mean the GM building. Sorry lol have a great weekend!
Mason, my bad dude! Got the letters mixed up 😂 thanks for correcting
OK, in the first image, the General Motors Building (Stone), stands at 50 stories, 705 feet tall. The building to the far left is the Four Seasons Hotel (Pei) and stands 54 floors, 682 feet tall. The new Foster building “will rise more than 600 feet.”
It says 600 ft in the article.
Yes, “MORE than 600 feet.”
At 52 floors this should come in around 1100 feet. Nevermind what outdated filings might suggest.
When they say “carbon neutral” do they factor in the steel, glass, granite, roofing, wiring, plumbing, finishes, and asbestos from the 15 story building that was demolished?
One less supertall for billionaires to park their money, we’ll survive.
Not bad, look forward to more detailed renderings.
Not a bad design from the ubiquitous Foster + Partners, and thankfully it’s not loaded up with sky trees.
But that big box on the top is ungainly and weird. LEDs would be too obvious and not help its look during the day.
But there are sky shrubs! I agree – nice design from Foster.
I am so over these stacked boxes. I really miss old Foster. This is Just Penn15 gussied up.
$400/sf nowhere near grand central or Penn station – good luck with that
Madison Ave between 58th and 59th, ain’t chopped liver..
GM Building across the Street and 9 West 57th already getting super-premium rates. Think again
The Plaza District (where this is located) is substantially more than the Penn station area and definitely more than the Grand Central area
Looks great
How come no one is posting anymore about the lack of need for office space. I guess those people who posted in 2025 now realize they should rely on developers who understand the market better?
