Vornado Realty Trust has announced a major step in the revitalization of its Penn District campus with the appointment of Cushman & Wakefield as the exclusive leasing agent for PENN 2, a 1.8-million-square-foot office tower undergoing renovations at Two Penn Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan. The partnership aims to position PENN 2 as a premier destination for leading companies in the heart of Manhattan’s Westside.
Designed by MdeAS Architects and developed by Vornado Realty Trust, PENN 2’s renovations include a modern glass curtain wall, a triple-height lobby, and double-height outdoor tenant loggias. A notable feature is its six-story podium, which offers 105,000 square feet of column-free, double-height space. Additionally, the building includes 72,000 square feet of outdoor green spaces, including a terrace and a 17,000-square-foot private rooftop park with an indoor glass pavilion. Finally, the building offers a 300-seat Town Hall space suspended above the 33rd Street plaza. The facility is designed for a range of events from keynote talks and private screenings to banquets and exhibitions.
The redevelopment of PENN 2 is part of Vornado’s larger vision for the Penn District. PENN 2 and PENN 1 encompass 4.4 million square feet of transit-adjacent office space and a revitalized street level and below-grade retail landscape. The completion of the campus-wide project will see new public plazas, lush landscaping, and wider sidewalks.
Located directly above North America’s busiest transit hub, the Penn District campus offers unparalleled access to 15 subway lines, the Long Island Rail Road, New Jersey Transit, PATH, Amtrak, and, starting in 2027, Metro-North trains.

All this construction and there is still not a place to wait for a taxi under a roof. The three station entrances are strangely lacking in uniformity. The original facade tended to darken 32nd St. and the new is an improvement, though I am not so fond of “toothpick” architecture. What became of the two granite eagles from the old station?
