Designed by Urban Architectural Initiatives and developed by Urban Resource Institute, the New York City Department of Social Services, and Asian Americans for Equality, the building yields 90 apartment-style units for homeless families with children. The project is described by the development team as the first purpose-built shelter of its kind in Flushing. Archstone Builders led construction for the project, which is located between 39th Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue, just east of Flushing Creek.

Amstar Group LLC has acquired Henry Hall, a 33-story, 225-unit tower at 515 West 38th Street in Hudson Yards, Manhattan. JLL Capital Markets represented the seller, a joint venture of Shorenstein Investment Advisers and Dreamscape Companies, in the $129 million transaction. JLL also advised the buyer in securing $71 million in acquisition financing through U.S. Bank. The property is located between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues.

Restoration of Morris-Jumel Mansion Begins in Washington Heights, Manhattan

Construction has begun on an approximately $10 million restoration of the Morris-Jumel Mansion, the 1765 landmark located at 65 Jumel Terrace in Washington Heights, Manhattan. NYC Parks Commissioner Tricia Shimamura joined officials from the Historic House Trust, local elected leaders, and community members to mark the start of the project, which aims to preserve Manhattan’s oldest surviving residence. The filing, submitted by counsel for the West Park Administrative Commission, responds to opposition raised by The Center at West Park and addresses claims concerning financial feasibility, transferable development rights, and the statutory hardship standards under the landmarks law. The Church has a binding contract to sell the landmarked property to Alchemy Properties contingent upon LPC approval of the hardship application. The property is located at the corner of West 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
