Designed by Bernheimer Architecture and developed by Breaking Ground under the BG Sutphin Owner LLC, the 163-foot-tall structure spans 119,719 square feet and yields 173 rental units. The project also includes a 15,000-square-foot health center operated by Community Healthcare Network on the ground and cellar levels, and a 40-foot-long rear yard. The property is located at the southwest corner of 97th Avenue and 146th Street.

St. Nicks Alliance has closed on financing for the redevelopment of three Brooklyn properties yielding 44 affordable homes in East Williamsburg and Bushwick. The $26 million project encompasses two adjoining 16-unit buildings at 984-988 Greene Avenue and six-unit properties at 315 Harman Street and 19 Kingsland Avenue. The development is backed by a $2.26 million construction and permanent loan from LISC NY, which will cover hard costs associated with the redevelopment, along with soft costs and financing costs.

L&L Infinite has completed the acquisition of 600 Third Avenue, a 42-story office skyscraper in Midtown East, Manhattan. Designed by Emery Roth & Sons and completed in 1970, the 590-foot-tall structure spans 575,254 square feet and changed hands at a valuation of $245 million. L&L Infinite is joined in the joint venture by affiliates of Mack Real Estate Group, BLDG Management, and BD Blakely, and secured a $215 million acquisition loan from Bain Capital. The property is located between East 39th and 40th Streets.

Construction has broken ground on Chelsea Beacon, a residential conversion and expansion of the former Bayview Correctional Facility at 550 West 20th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by a joint venture between Camber Property Group and the Osborne Association, the $167 project will span approximately 100,000 square feet and yield up to 131 permanently affordable rental units. The development will also include a 15-unit short-term transitional residence for individuals with mental health needs, 9,300 square feet of community facility space, and a ninth-floor outdoor terrace. The property is located at the southeast corner of West 20th Street and Eleventh Avenue, directly across from Chelsea Piers.

An updated design has been unveiled for the redesign an 11-block streetscape transformation of Park Avenue spanning East 46th to East 57th Street in Midtown East, Manhattan. Led by the New York City Department of Transportation and designed by Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects and Planners, in collaboration with Thornton Tomasetti and TYLin, the project will expand the avenue’s medians, add pedestrian space, seating, and landscaping, and convert an existing southbound vehicle travel lane into a two-way protected bike lane. The revised plan would remove one travel lane in each direction and repurpose one additional southbound lane for the protected bike lane, while new crosswalks will connect the medians along the corridor. The project area sits directly above the Grand Central Terminal train shed, between Grand Central Terminal and the foot of East 57th Street.

New Renderings Revealed For Interborough Express In Brooklyn And Queens

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has revealed new renderings for the Interborough Express, a new light rail line connecting Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and Jackson Heights, Queens. The $5.5 billion light rail line will span 14 miles from the Brooklyn Army Terminal to Roosevelt Avenue, yielding 18 fully accessible stations with connections to 17 subway lines, 51 bus routes, and the Long Island Rail Road. The project is projected to serve 160,000 daily riders, more than any light rail system currently operating in the United States, and shorten travel times for more than 900,000 residents and 260,000 workers near the corridor.
