Just as AvalonBay Communities wraps up its big Brooklyn tower in Downtown Brooklyn, the developer has filed new building applications for a 33-story development at 1865 Broadway, just north of Columbus Circle on the Upper West Side.
While it’s taken over a decade for the first few projects to get moving along the Far West Side, both Hudson Yards and Manhattan West are now well underway, with the concrete for 10 Hudson Yards having topped-out just last week. Now, we have an update from Tectonic with photos of 3 Manhattan West. Completion is slightly further out at the future residential tower, but the building is rapidly rising into the Midtown skyline, and cladding installation now underway.
Back in early 2014, YIMBY featured a first look at speculative plans for the redevelopment of the American Bible Society. That concept fell through, but we followed up with a post that included a prospective design by architects Goldstein Hill & West. Now, Skidmore Owings & Merrill has been tapped to design the project, and thanks to a tipster’s submission of diagrams for the project, we were able to create renderings that are a close approximation of what the building will ultimately look like.
Earlier this year, YIMBY revealed new renderings of World Wide Group’s and Rose Associates’ 65-story residential tower underway at 252 East 57th Street, in Midtown East, and now the tower has topped-out. The building will include 268 units, split between 93 condominiums and 175 apartments, and amenities include a porte cochére, a 34th-floor terrace and a 75-foot-long pool and spa. Retail will be included on the ground and second floors. SOM is the design architect, while SLCE Architects is serving as architect of record. Occupancy is expected in late 2016.
Two years ago, Barnard College announced its plans to demolish its library, Lehman Hall, and build an 11-story teaching and learning center in its place. Now the women’s college has filed applications for a 12-story building at 32 Claremont Avenue, mid-block between 116th and 119th Streets.
