Three-Story Manufacturing Building Planned for 2702 West 15th Street, Coney Island

SO Development Enterprises has filed applications for a three-story, 53-foot-tall manufacturing warehouse at the vacant parcel 2702 West 15th Street, on Coney Island near the Coney Island Creek. The building will measure 23,810 square feet, and Walter Marin of Marin Architects PC is designing. Filings were also submitted in January, but the latest plans have increased the scope of the project by 4,700 square feet.

Three years ago during Hurricane Sandy, flooding ravaged the Madeleine Jones Head Start Center on Neptune Avenue in Coney Island, and its owners, Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens, began their search for a new location and a new building to house their daycare center.

Seven-Story Rental To Fill Long Vacant Lot At 1613 Mermaid Avenue, Coney Island

An LLC has filed applications for a seven-story, 16-unit residential building at the empty lot at 1613 Mermaid Avenue, on Coney Island. Measuring nearly 11,290 square feet in total, the average unit will be a little over 700 square feet, indicating rentals are likely in the works. Miele Associates is designing the new structure, which will hopefully rise on the long-vacant lot.

Two-Family Building Planned for 4220 Beach 42nd Street, Sea Gate

The property owner, Alexei Petrikov, of the vacant lot at 4220 Beach 42nd Street, in Sea Gate, has filed applications for a three-story, two-unit residential building measuring 3,720 square feet. Sergey Mozer, of SM Architect PLLC, is designing the project.

Eight-Story Health Care Facility Planned for 2846 Stillwell Avenue on Coney Island

An LLC has filed applications for an eight-story, 15,150 square-foot health care facility at 2846 Stillwell Avenue, on Coney Island. Ruslan Goychayev, of RSLN Architecture, is designing the project, which will be directly across the Stillwell Ave subway stop serviced by the D, F, N and Q lines. An existing two-story structure must first be demolished.

Coney Island has been slow to recover from the damage inflicted by Hurricane Sandy, but construction is finally starting to pick up, from a 40-story tower planned at Trump Village to a new hotel on Stillwell Avenue. Today’s new development is an eight-story building with commercial and community space at 2885 West 15th Street, at the corner of Mermaid Avenue.
