Supportive Housing Development Breaks Ground at 2611 Pitkin Avenue In East New York, Brooklyn

Housing Works has begun construction on a new supportive housing development at 2611 Pitkin Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Led by Bailey House, the organization’s housing development subsidiary, the eight-story project will yield 39 studio apartments. The project is Housing Works’ first independently developed project financed through the Nine Percent Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. Construction on the property began in September 2024 and is expected to be completed by late September 2026. The property is located between Fountain Avenue and Logan Street.

Brooklyn-based development firm Totem has released an updated proposal for Herkimer-Williams, a planned mixed-use development surrounding Broadway Junction in East New York, Brooklyn. Revisions for the 2-acre, multi-building campus follow more than two years of community outreach. The development is planned to feature affordable housing, commercial and light industrial space, neighborhood-serving retail, and dedicated areas for community services and public open space.

114 Snediker Avenue Tops Out in East New York, Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 114 Snediker Avenue, a four-story women’s shelter in East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by Curtis + Ginsburg and developed by Camber Property Group and Urban Atelier Group, the 60,000-square-foot, all-electric structure will yield 60 dormitory-style units accommodating 200 beds, as well a cellar level and a 60-vehicle surface-level parking lot. The property is bound by Glenmore Avenue to the south, Snediker Avenue to the east, and Van Sinderen Avenue to the west.

The project, which was designed by PAU, aims to transform 10.5-acre site currently owned by the Christian Cultural Center into a mixed-use urban village.

Permits Filed For 790 Liberty Avenue In East New York, Brooklyn

Construction permits have been filed for an eight-story residential building at 790 Liberty Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by Jay Architect & Engineering, the 80-foot-tall structure will span 35,513 square feet and yield 53 units, as well as 14 enclosed and seven open parking spaces. The permit is a post-approval amendment to a filing made early 2022 that was approved under the New York City 421A permitting program, which expired in June 2022. This amendment allows the site to maintain its 421A tax exemption. David Goldberger is listed as the owner of the property, which is located at the corner of Liberty Avenue and Berriman Street.
