YIMBY recently sat down with Jerry Pi, of the eponymous Pi Capital Partners, whose principals are comprised of Jerry and his father. From developing affordable and market-rate housing in the Outer Boroughs, to a new skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan just steps from the Empire State Building, the firm’s activities in New York City have been extensive. Today’s interview covers the firm’s origins, the importance of transportation and infrastructure improvements to a functioning Midtown Manhattan, and what may be next in store for Queens, with the imminent completion of both JFK and LaGuardia’s renovations and expansions.
Under the consortium of “FWRA LLC,” developers Richard Siu of F&T Group, John Liang of Young Nian Group LLC, and William Xu of United Construction & Development Group recently announced plans for the Special Flushing Waterfront District, a major redevelopment in downtown Flushing, Queens. Designed by Hill West Architects, the master plan would transform an underdeveloped swath of land bound by Flushing Creek, Northern Boulevard, College Point Boulevard, and Roosevelt Avenue into a mixed-use community, while simultaneously restoring and upgrading the neighborhood’s public waterfront access. YIMBY reached out to the development team with ten questions on what’s to come for the project.
The project team behind Flushing Point Plaza, a rising three-tower complex, has revealed the preliminary renderings of two forthcoming residential towers. The development is located at 131-02 40th Road in Flushing, Queens, and will eventually comprise more than 243,000 square feet of residential area.
Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 132-55 41st Road in Flushing, Queens. Located between College Point Boulevard and Main Street, the interior lot is three blocks south of the Main Street subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Permits have been filed for a 14-story commercial building at 37-16 Union Street in Flushing, Queens. Located between 37th and 38th Avenues, the interior lot is a short walk to the Main Street subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Also nearby is the LIRR Flushing Main Street station. Lions Group NYC under the ZL Macedonia LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
