Union Center Reaches Street Level at 37-16 Union Street in Flushing, Queens

Construction has reached street level for Union Center, a 16-story mixed-use building at 37-16 Union Street in Flushing, Queens. Designed by Raymond Chan Architect and developed Lions Group NYC, the 189-foot-tall structure will span 207,239 square feet, with 133,000 square feet of Class A office space, community facility space, 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, a 48-foot-long rear yard, and 142 enclosed valet parking spaces across three cellar levels. The office space will offer flexible tenant arrangements and roof terraces on the 16th floor. ZL Macedonia LLC is listed as the owner of the property, which is situated on an interior lot facing the intersection of Union Street and 38th Avenue.

La Vita’s Exterior Takes Shape at 133-25 37th Avenue in Flushing, Queens

Exterior work is progressing on La Vita, a 16-story residential and hotel complex at 133-25 37th Avenue in Flushing, Queens. FXCollaborative is the design architect, Raymond Chan Architect is serving as the architecture of record, and Gary Tsan under the 37 Richouse LLC is the developer of the 198-foot-tall structure, which will span 263,151 square feet and yield 150 condominium units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, as well as 202 hotel rooms, 23,000 square feet of ground-floor and below-grade retail space, and 300 parking spaces. The property stands on a nearly 1-acre interior lot bound by 36th Road to the north, 37th Avenue to the south, and a construction project at 133-09 37th Avenue to the west.

Permits Filed for 31-15 Linden Place in Flushing, Queens

New Renderings Revealed For 20-Acre Metropolitan Park Proposal in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens

New York Mets owner Steve Cohen recently unveiled new renderings for Metropolitan Park, a 20-acre park on the former site of Shea Stadium in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens. Designed in collaboration between SHoP Architects and Field Operations, the park is part of the 50-acre, $8 billion plan to transform the parking lots on the western side of Citi Field into a mixed-use casino and hotel complex. The development is bound by Shea Road to the north and west, Roosevelt Avenue to the south, and Citi Field, Seaver Way, and Mets Plaza to the east.

Permits Filed for 138-30 Northern Boulevard in Flushing, Queens

Permits have been filed for a 14-story community facility building at 138-30 Northern Boulevard in Flushing, Queens. Located between Union Street and Bowne Street, the lot is a short walk to the Main Street subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Linzhong Zhuo is listed as the owner behind the applications. The developer also filed permits for a 19-story residential building at 138-32 Northern Boulevard in 2022.

Flushing has been booming with new developments, as demand for more space in New York City’s largest Chinatown has continued to increase. Today, YIMBY has the first renderings of another project coming to the neighborhood, at 135-01 35th Avenue, where Stenmax Realty Inc. is planning an eight-story mixed-use building.

2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the New York City landmarks law. There were occasions to celebrate, and the Landmarks Preservation Commission designated six individual landmarks and four historic districts. 2016 was considerably busier for the commission. It designated 40 individual landmarks and two historic districts, including 12 new Midtown East landmarks and 26 sites from its backlog. Here are all of them, for you to take in as the year comes to a close.

Four-Story, Five-Unit Mixed-Use Building Planned at 41-16 Haight Street, Flushing

A Queens-based property owner has filed applications for a four-story, five-unit mixed-use building at 41-16 Haight Street, in downtown Flushing. The project, measuring 7,180 square feet, will feature 1,780 square feet across the ground and cellar levels for a children’s daycare center, followed by five residential units on the second through fourth floors. The apartments should average 724 square feet apiece, indicative of rental units. Robert H. Lin’s Flushing-based A&T Engineering is the applicant of record. The 20-foot-wide, 2,000-square-foot lot is occupied by a two-story house. Demolition permits were filed in November.

Permits Filed for 19-Story Hotel at Flushing Point Plaza, 131-02 40th Road

In September, YIMBY revealed renderings of Flushing Point Plaza, a three-building, 19-story development headed to 131-02 40th Road in western Flushing. Yesterday, plans were filed for a 19-story hotel, the third and final piece of the project.

LPC Holds New Public Hearing on Designation of Bowne Street Community Church in Flushing

One of the items on the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s backlog of items on the calendar since before 2010 came back before it on Tuesday. The LPC once again took up the designation of the Bowne Street Community Church in Flushing. The session was not a vote on the item, but another public hearing.
