Plans Announced for New Blue Highways Facility in Hunts Point, The Bronx

Con Agg Global and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) have announced a plan to establish a new waterside trans-loading facility adjacent to the Fulton Fish Market in the Hunts Point Food Distribution Center in Hunts Point, The Bronx. The project, supported by equity investors BDT & MSD Partners and shareholder William J. Sandbrook, aims to reduce roadway congestion and promote sustainable freight transport via New York City waterways. Operations are expected to begin later in 2025, with plans for a more permanent facility pending further approvals.

New York State Regional Food Hub Opens At 298 Halleck Street In Hunts Point, The Bronx

A new 60,000-square-foot cold storage and distribution facility known as the New York State Regional Food Hub has officially opened at 298 Halleck Street in Hunts Point, the Bronx. Operated by GrowNYC, the $45 million project was backed by $19 million in state funding through the New York City Regional Economic Development Council. The Hub is designed to scale up the distribution of locally sourced food from approximately 3 million pounds to 20 million pounds annually by 2034, creating more than 200 new jobs while enhancing food access across underserved New York communities.

Phase Two of The Peninsula Tops Out in Hunts Point, The Bronx

Construction has topped out on the second phase of The Peninsula, a 100-percent affordable residential complex in Hunts Point, The Bronx. Developed and built by Gilbane Development, Hudson Companies, MHANY Management, and Broadway Builders, the entire master plan will consist of four mixed-use buildings yielding 740 affordable homes. The development will also contain a light-industrial manufacturing facility, 15,000 square feet of retail space, a grocery store, and 57,000 square feet of open public plazas. There will also be 52,000 square feet of community facility space slated to be occupied by a DOE administered Head Start facility, Inspiration Point’s cultural arts facility, and a Health and Wellness Center operated by UrbanHealth Plan. The property is located along Spofford Avenue between Manida and Tiffany Streets.
