Major Mixed-Use and Affordable Housing Development ‘Liberty Towers’ Revealed for St. George, Staten Island

A massive mixed-use housing development may be coming to the St. George neighborhood in Staten Island. The project, which comprises residential and commercial use, affordable housing, open space, and accessory parking, will have two sites: 170-208 Richmond Terrace and 8-26 Stuyvesant Place. Developer Madison Realty Capital under the Richmond SI Owner LLC is seeking approval for zoning map amendments, zoning text amendments, and special permits in order to begin work on the four-building, 911,752-square-foot complex near the St. George waterfront and the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. The site includes 224 Richmond Terrace, a 60,000-square-foot, 40-unit condominium property that Madison Realty Capital acquired in 2012.

Proposals Pending for 11-Building Complex at Kreischer Mansion in Charleston, Staten Island

New York City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) recently reviewed proposals to transform the grounds surrounding Charleston, Staten Island’s historic Kreischer Mansion into an 11-building residential complex. The LPC had generally positive comments about the project, located at 4500 Arthur Kill Road, but did request some minor changes to the proposals including the height of the new residential structures, proposed landscaping, and the distance between the Victorian home and the new construction.

Permits have been filed for a four-story mixed-use building at 3865 Amboy Road, in Great Kills, Staten Island. 3865 Amboy Road sits right on Amboy Road, a popular commercial thoroughfare in the neighborhood, and is about three blocks away from the Staten Island Railroad’s Great Kills station. Igor Shteiman of Chester Builders Corp. is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Garibaldi-Meucci Museum Seeks Approvals to Construct Sculptural Monument in Staten Island

Staten Island’s Garibaldi-Meucci Museum has proposed the installation of a new 34-foot monument on the western edge of the property. Titled “Venzia New York,” the new sculpture would rise from a 20-foot by 20-foot concrete base accompanied by a new concrete walkway, a dedicated plaque, and additional benches in the museum’s front lawn.

New construction permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 221 Port Richmond Avenue, in Staten Island’s Port Richmond neighborhood. The corner site, between Castleton Avenue and Anderson Avenue, will soon be home to 48 affordable housing units, to be completed by 2021. Located in a commercial area, the lot is about a 22 minute bus ride along Castleton Avenue to the St. George ferry terminal that connects to Manhattan. Hudson Companies is listed as the owner behind the applications.
