Type A Real Estate Advisors and JASA recently completed a new affordable housing development at 1490 Southern Boulevard in The Bronx. The 100-percent affordable project is located in the borough’s Charlotte Gardens neighborhood and comprises 114 units for households making up to 50 percent area median income (AMI). Thirty percent of the units will be set aside formerly homeless older adults.
The Jackson Group recently sold 2970 Third Avenue, a 25,000-square-foot retail property in the South Bronx, to 5 Boro Real Estate Partners for $8.75 million. The new owners intend to redevelop the property into a 100,000-square-foot mixed-use building.

The property will create 40 low-income homeownership opportunities reserved for households earning up to $93,000 for a three-person household.
Construction has officially begun at 1323 Boston Road, a new affordable senior housing project in The Bronx. Known as Garden Towers Apartments, the development is wedged between Clinton Avenue and Boston Road in the Morrisania neighborhood and will introduce 150 apartments spread across two buildings.
New York City Public Housing Authority (NYCHA), the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and the NYC Housing Development Corporation (HDC) have finalized a major construction financing package to complete a 205-unit affordable housing development in The Bronx. Located in the borough’s Soundview neighborhood, the building will debut as Casa Celina, named after Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s mother Celina Baez.
