This week, Sydney House debuted as Habitat for Humanity‘s largest completed housing project worldwide. Designed by Union Street Studios, the seven-story building is located at 839-843 Tilden Street in The Bronx and is the first project to be completed as part of New York City’s “Open Door” affordable homeownership program.
New York State has officially launched the second phase of major enhancements to the interchange of Bruckner Expressway and Bruckner Boulevard in Hunts Point, the South Bronx. Known as the Hunts Point Access Improvement Project, Phase Two includes rehabilitation to existing roadway infrastructure, the enhancement of public safety on local streets by strategically reducing truck traffic, and the construction of a new shared walkway and bike path on Bruckner Boulevard between 138th Street and Barretto Street.
The Department of City Planning is now reviewing proposals to construct a new 11-story affordable housing property at 1949 Bathgate Avenue in the Tremont neighborhood of The Bronx. Before construction can begin, the agency must approve up-zoned text amendments to permit the construction of a tall, dense multifamily building.
Today’s housing lottery round-up features four buildings in Brooklyn and The Bronx with available affordable units on Housing Connect with deadlines closing within the next seven days.
Updated renderings from S. Wieder Architect offer the first look at a seven-story residential building in the Port Morris section of The Bronx. Designed in collaboration with Input Creative Studio, the 46,237-square-foot property is located at 101 Bruckner Boulevard and will yield 55 rental units averaging about 670 square feet apiece.
