Willets Point Commons Phase One Reaches Completion In Willets Point, Queens

Construction is complete on Willets Point Commons, two 12-story residential buildings in the first phase of the redevelopment of Willets Point, Queens. Designed by S9Architecture and developed by Queens Development Group (QDG), a joint venture between Related Companies and Sterling Equities, the structures yield a total of 880 affordable units. The project is being completed in partnership with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), the New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). The buildings are bounded by Willets Point Boulevard to the northwest, Roosevelt Avenue to the south, and Flushing Creek to the east.

Designed by HOK, the 24,851-seat venue will stand as the centerpiece of a 23-acre redevelopment plan along with a new 650-seat public school, a hotel, and more than 150,000 square feet of public open space. The facility will also be the first fully electric stadium in New York City and in MLS history. The project site is bounded by 127th Street to the northeast, 35th Avenue to the northwest, Willets Point Boulevard to the southeast, and Seaver Way and Citi Field to the southwest.

Phase One of Willets Point Redevelopment Tops Out In Willets Point, Queens

Construction has reached a milestone in the first phase of the Willets Point Transformation project in Willets Point, Queens, where the superstructures of Buildings 1 and 2 have been completed ahead of schedule. These two buildings will deliver 880 of the total 2,500 affordable housing units planned for the site, marking a step forward in what is set to be New York City’s largest 100-percent affordable housing development in over four decades.
