Solow’s 685 First Avenue Nearing Completion, Murray Hill

Among the few vacant lots remaining in Murray Hill, 685 First Avenue, between East 39th and 40th Streets, was one of the largest before permits were filed back in August of 2015. In May of 2016, the first renderings for the building were released, and by January of this year, construction was several floors above street level. Now, the latest photos from 5B Films show that work has topped-out, and the facade is closing in on the upper levels, as the 42-story tower approaches completion.

The Queens Botanical Garden, Queens Museum, and Citi Field are also nearby. The last stop for 7 trains, at Main Street Station, is just over a block away.

Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 325 Gates Avenue, in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The site is seven blocks away from the Bedford-Nostrand Avenue station serviced by the G train, and eight blocks away from the Franklin Avenue station, serviced by the A and C trains. It is nearby the Pratt Institute’s Brooklyn Campus, which could mean it will be marketed towards college students or recent graduates. Renaissance Realty Group is developing.
