New renderings have been revealed for proposed renovations to the News Corp. Building, a 45-story commercial skyscraper at 1211 Avenue of The Americas in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by RXR, the project will modernize the main entrance of the 1.9-million-square-foot building, which serves as the headquarters for News Corp. and Fox Corporation. The property is located between West 47th and 48th Streets.
The above main rendering looks southwest at the base of the skyscraper, showing a modern glass curtain wall enclosing the soaring lobby and a broad canopy wrapping around the corner. The image also highlights the revisions to the landscaped plaza along Sixth Avenue, including the presence of a sculpture.
The following renderings from 2022 offer a closer look at the lobby fenestration and the canopy, which will feature an expanded version of the building’s current news ticker along its outer edge.
The below Google Street View image shows the current conditions of the skyscraper’s base.
Kohn Pedersen Fox will aid in the interior design of the lobby, previewed below, as well as with the elevator modernization.
Office amenities will include a 1,500-square foot boardroom fully equipped for leadership meetings, private dining, and executive sessions; a wellness suits featuring infrared saunas, red-light therapy, meditation rooms, massage pods, and recovery stations; flexible lounge and golf simulators; a speakeasy; a multi-purpose room suitable for town halls, lectures, fundraisers, or training sessions that can support gatherings from 20 to 160 guests; a hospitality lounge with seating and phone suites; and The Sixth Avenue Lounge which will feature an elevated coffee bar, seating area, and grab-and-go food options.
An entrance to the 47th–50th Streets–Rockefeller Center subway station is located directly outside the building, providing convenient access to the B, D, F, and M trains.
Construction at 1211 Avenue of the Americas is expected to cost $367 million. An anticipated start and completion date has yet to be announced.

Personally, this undistinguished building could just be torn down and replaced with a parking lot.
XYZ buildings were instrumental in the establishment of the modern sleak slab design. They’re actually quite a sight to behold when among them. Feels like a soaring canyon where your eyes drift up between the sheer cliff drop in the horizon. The materials used were chic as well. Would be low on my list of drab building to tear down.
And for the love of god not a parking lot in the most dense office space in the country, at least suggest a pocket park
AGREED.
it’s less about the building itself and more about its tenant.
This building should be referred to as the Propagandaministerium.
That building is in Atlanta.
You’re lost brother. Turn back before it’s too late.
I really don’t like one of the famous XYZ buildings being changed so much, especially when it’s clearly for publicity purposes. Why would there be such a huge canopy on the north side of the building?
This will become the symbol for democracy’s death.
why ? because of Fox?
please keep politics out of this site.
plenty of New Yorkers work for the Murdochs and they could be headquartered anywhere. Im happy they are here keeping New York the media capital. for now
Working for the devil.
Such an inviting public space/s
Maybe the public park could double as a detention camp in summer! “Murdock Fatherland Detention Stalag” has a nice ring to it. (The existing sculpture already looks like giant handcuffs.)
Yonah – if that is your real name.
you should worry more about the upcoming resident of Gracie Mansion.
but sure pretend its the right wing that is the issue in NYC
Are you stupid or something?
