New renderings have been revealed for proposed renovations to the News Corp. Building, a 45-story commercial skyscraper at 1211 Avenue of The Americas in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by RXR, the project will modernize the main entrance of the 1.9-million-square-foot building, which serves as the headquarters for News Corp. and Fox Corporation. The property is located between West 47th and 48th Streets.

The above main rendering looks southwest at the base of the skyscraper, showing a modern glass curtain wall enclosing the soaring lobby and a broad canopy wrapping around the corner. The image also highlights the revisions to the landscaped plaza along Sixth Avenue, including the presence of a sculpture.

The following renderings from 2022 offer a closer look at the lobby fenestration and the canopy, which will feature an expanded version of the building’s current news ticker along its outer edge.

Personally, this undistinguished building could just be torn down and replaced with a parking lot.

I really don’t like one of the famous XYZ buildings being changed so much, especially when it’s clearly for publicity purposes. Why would there be such a huge canopy on the north side of the building?
This will become the symbol for democracy’s death.

    • why ? because of Fox?

please keep politics out of this site.

plenty of New Yorkers work for the Murdochs and they could be headquartered anywhere. Im happy they are here keeping New York the media capital. for now

  3. Working for the devil.

  4. Such an inviting public space/s

  5. Maybe the public park could double as a detention camp in summer! “Murdock Fatherland Detention Stalag” has a nice ring to it. (The existing sculpture already looks like giant handcuffs.)
