Housing Lottery Launches for 556 Baltic Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery has launched for 556 Baltic Street, an 11-story mixed-use building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Designed by Input Creative Studio with Baltic Residence LLC, the structure yields 92 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 23 units for residents at 40 to 100 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $40,595 to $175,000.

Amenities include pet-friendly policies, a dog park, dog washing station, bike storage lockers, gym, party room, business center, children’s playroom, storage, and rooftop terrace. Residences are equipped with washers and dryers, air conditioning, smart controls for heating and cooling, and patios or balconies. Tenants are responsible for electricity, including stove and heat.

At 40 percent of the AMI, there are nine one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $1,020 for incomes ranging from $40,595 to $58,320.

At 60 percent of the AMI, there is one one-bedroom with a monthly rent of $1,609 for incomes ranging from $60,789 to $87,480, and eight two-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $1,908 for incomes ranging from $72,960 to $105,000.

At 100 percent of the AMI, there are four studios with a monthly rent of $2,608 for incomes ranging from $94,286 to $129,600, and one two-bedroom with a monthly rent of $3,233 for incomes ranging from $118,389 to $175,000.

Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than February 9, 2026.
