The first row of industrial-style glass panels is now in place on the second floor of the 34-story, 495-foot-tall reinforced concrete skyscraper, joining the other windows already installed on the eastern and northern elevations. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by JEMB Realty, the topped-out project currently holds the title of the tallest new office building in Brooklyn, and will yield 500,000 square feet of Class A office space. Gilbane Building Company is in charge of construction.

After several design iterations, it appears that work is finally set to begin on a new office tower at 420 Albee Square, in Downtown Brooklyn. What was originally expected to become the borough’s tallest residential tower saw a substantial downgrade in expectations when revised permits were filed in March of 2015, only for the shift to office to be announced in November of the same year. FXFowle is listed as the architect on the latest version, which will rise 36 floors and 495 feet to its rooftop.
YIMBY revealed preliminary renderings of a planned office building at 420 Albee Square, in Downtown Brooklyn, when the New York City Economic Development Corporation announced the project back in November of 2015. Now, new details are emerging. Dubbed One Willoughby Square, it will measure roughly 500,000 square feet. Kohn Pedersen Fox is responsible for the design, although the final vision is still to be determined, the Wall Street Journal reported. It’s unclear how many floors there will be or how high the building will rise since new building applications have yet to be filed. The developers, JEMB Realty and Forest City Ratner Companies, are currently seeking an anchor tenant. Construction is expected to begin in 2017. The 22,840-square-foot site is currently vacant.
It’s been a few years since the city’s Economic Development Corporation announced plans to develop a 700-unit underground parking garage on Willoughby Street in Downtown Brooklyn and create a one-acre green space on top. Now, the park, Willoughby Square, is one step closer to reality, as the city prepares to demolish an office building at 217 Duffield Street, between Willoughby and Fulton streets.
