18 Sixth Avenue’s Glass Façade Installation Wraps Up in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

Curtain wall work is getting close to completion on 18 Sixth Avenue, a 49-story residential skyscraper in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by The Brodsky Organization and Greenland Forest City Partners, the 532-foot-tall, 740,000-square-foot building will yield 858 rental units, of which 258 will be dedicated to affordable housing. The project towers over the adjacent Barclays Center and is the tallest building in the 22-acre Pacific Park master plan. The rest of the development will be constructed atop the currently exposed train tracks to the east that run parallel with Atlantic Avenue. Lemay + Escobar is designing the interiors, including the main lobby, the apartments, the corridors, the outdoor terrace and the amenities.

The Willoughby’s Exterior Nears Completion at 196 Willoughby Street in Downtown Brooklyn

Exterior work is continuing to progress on The Willoughby, a 34-story mixed-use building at 196 Willoughby Street on Long Island University‘s Brooklyn campus in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by RXR Realty, the 435-foot-tall structure is also alternately addressed as 61 DeKalb Avenue and will bring a mix of residential units, academic and office spaces, a new adjacent athletic field, and parking for 564 vehicles. The Willoughby is bound by Willoughby Street to the north, Ashland Place to the east, DeKalb Avenue to the south, and Flatbush Avenue Extension to the west.

St. Francis College Announces New Downtown Brooklyn Campus at 181 Livingston Street

St. Francis College will soon relocate its New York campus to The Wheeler Building at 181 Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn. The new facility is expected to open in September 2022 and includes the introduction of new academic programs, dining area, event spaces, and collaborative areas.

Turkevi Center Wraps Up Construction at 821 First Avenue in Turtle Bay, Manhattan

Construction is coming to a close on Turkevi Center, a 35-story mixed-use skyscraper at 821 First Avenue in the Midtown East neighborhood of Turtle Bay. Designed by Perkins Eastman, the 563-foot-tall structure stands at the corner of First Avenue and East 46th Street and will serve as the consulate for the Republic of Turkey.

TSX Broadway’s New Superstructure Begins Assembly at 1568 Broadway in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction has begun on the new superstructure for 1568 Broadway, a 470-foot-tall hotel in Times Square. Designed by PBDW Architects, Mancini Duffy, and Perkins Eastman and developed by L&L Holding Company, Maefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group, the project involved the partial demolition of the former DoubleTree Suites by Hilton to make way for the new 550,000-square-foot tower, which will be dubbed TSX Broadway. The overhaul also includes the raising of Kirchoff & Rose’s 108-year-old Palace Theater by 30 feet to make room for ground-floor retail space. The site is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street to the east of the red TKTS stairs, and is slated to cost $2.5 billion.

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Ebenezer Plaza Phase 1 North, a nine-story mixed-use building at 96 New Lots Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The 137,747-square-foot steel development was designed by Perkins Eastman and yields 118 units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 106 units for residents at 30 to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $14,915 to $118,400.

Fifth Avenue Hotel’s Renovated Façade Revealed at 250 Fifth Avenue in NoMad, Manhattan

106 West 56th Street Nears Completion in Midtown, Manhattan

Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by private equity firm Savanna along with Hong Kong-based developer Atom Assets, the slim 27-story structure rises between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue, one street to the south of Billionaires’ Row.

Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by The Brodsky Organization and Greenland Forest City Partners, the 532-foot-tall, 740,000-square-foot building will yield 858 rental units, of which 258 will be dedicated to affordable housing. The property sits directly adjacent to Barclays Center and is bound by Atlantic Avenue to the north and the corner of Sixth Avenue and Pacific Street to the east. 18 Sixth Avenue is the tallest building in the 22-acre Pacific Park master plan and will eventually be joined by a corridor of future buildings running down Atlantic Avenue over the train tracks to the east.

Designed by PBDW Architects, Mancini Duffy, and Perkins Eastman and developed by L&L Holding Company, Maefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group, the project involves the partial demolition of the former DoubleTree Suites by Hilton and construction of a new 46-story, 550,000-square-foot hotel tower dubbed TSX Broadway, on its foundations. This also includes the preservation of the 108-year-old Palace Theater, which will be raised 30 feet to make room for ground-floor retail space. The site is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street, directly across from the TKTS stairs.
