The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to redevelop 324 East 5th Street in Manhattan’s East Village into affordable housing. The site, currently used as a parking lot for the NYPD’s 9th Precinct, spans more than 11,000 square feet and sits between First and Second Avenues.
Work is underway at 220 East 9th Street, where a five-story parking garage is being expanded and converted into a seven-story residential building in Manhattan’s East Village. Designed by Colberg Architecture and developed by Arcus Development, the 74-foot-tall structure will span 31,231 square feet and yield 18 condominium units with an average scope of 1,735 square feet. The development will also feature a cellar level, a 22-foot-long rear yard, and enclosed parking for ten vehicles. Astor Nine LLC is listed as the owner of the property, which is located between Second and Third Avenues.
The affordable housing lottery has launched for The Houston, a 12-story residential building at 280 East Houston Street in Manhattan’s East Village. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by SMA Equities, the structure yields 157 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 40 units for residents at 40 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $33,909 to $218,010.
Permits have been filed to convert a four-story house of worship into a six-story residential building at 256 East 4th Street in Manhattan’s East Village. Located between Avenues B and C, the lot is near the 2nd Avenue subway station, served by the F train. Rotem Cohen under the 89 Development LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Work is wrapping up on 204 Avenue A, a seven-story affordable housing building in the Alphabet City section of Manhattan’s East Village. Designed by Shakespeare Gordon Vlado Architects and developed by New York City’s Housing Preservation and Development, the 69-foot-tall structure will span 14,029 square feet and yield ten co-op apartments with an average scope of 930 square feet, as well as 1,464 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, rooftop recreational space, and a 34-foot-long rear yard. The property is located on a narrow interior lot between East 12th and East 13th Streets.
