76 Eighth Avenue’s Black Steel Façade Completes Installation in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Exterior work is nearing completion on 76 Eighth Avenue, a ten-story commercial structure in Greenwich Village. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sang Lee, Noviprop, and Plus Development, the 120-foot-tall structure will yield 30,000 square feet of office space and ground-floor retail. RAAD Studios designed the lobby space and Plus Design Studios designed the office interiors for the property, which is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 14th Street, on the border of the Meatpacking District, Chelsea, and West Village neighborhoods.

540 Hudson Street Rises Above Street Level in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction on 540 Hudson Street is progressing as the seven-story, 63-foot-tall reinforced concrete superstructure begins to climb above the sidewalk scaffolding. William Gottlieb Real Estate is the developer and Titanium Construction Services is the general contractor of the Greenwich Village property, which is located at the corner of Hudson and Charles Streets. The residential and retail building is rising on what was once a vacant lot and before that a gas station and garage. The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) approved the updated plans last December and BKSK Architects is adopting the original design that was first envisioned by Morris Adjmi Architects. The final result will be a 48,535-square-foot building with 6,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and cellar, and a total of 26 apartments.

The final steel façade is making its way up the sides of 76 Eighth Avenue, a ten-story commercial building in Greenwich Village. Gene Kaufman Architect designed the exterior, while RAAD Studios designed the lobby interior and Plus Design Studios did the office floor interiors. Sang Lee, Noviprop, and Plus Development are the developers of the 120-foot-tall structure, which will yield 30,000 square feet of office space and ground-floor retail at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 14th Street, on the border of the Meatpacking District, Chelsea and West Village neighborhoods.

Excavation Imminent at 144 Barrow Street in Manhattan’s West Village

Excavation appears to be imminent at 144 Barrow Street in Manhattan‘s West Village, the site of a seven-story residential building. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by 144 Barrow Street LLC, the 24,800-square-foot structure will yield 16 units and 1,800 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Titanium Construction Services Inc. is the general contractor for the project, which is located on a relatively narrow 5,000-square-foot site bound by Christopher Street to the north and Barrow Street to the south.

Demo Permits Make Way for RAMSA-Designed Tower at 14 Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Demo permits have been filed for 14 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, the site of a planned 19-story residential tower designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Hill West. Located between East 8th Street and East 9th Street with 52 feet of frontage along Fifth Avenue, the property is currently occupied by a four-story residential building with 20 units. Madison Realty Capital is listed as the owner behind the application, after purchasing the 5,255-square-foot site for $27.5 million in 2015.
