Exclusive Reveal for Mega-Development at 6205 8th Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

Last week, a proposal for a major new development at 6208 8th Avenue, in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, began to wind its way through the City’s planning processes. Today, we have the exclusive first look at another mega-project proposed directly across the street, at 6205 8th Avenue, where DXA Studio has designed an enormous two-block plan that would cover even more of the open railway tracks that currently leave the neighborhood bereft of its obvious potential.

Work Begins on Conversion And 23-Story Hotel Addition at 250 Fifth Avenue in NoMad

A weave of scaffolding and black netting has now shrouded the exterior facade of a former office building at 250 Fifth Avenue, which will soon be reborn as a hotel. The site is in NoMad, between West 28th Street and West 29th Street. With the facade designated as a landmark within the Madison Square North Historic District, the original five-story McKim, Mead and White structure, completed in 1907, will be part of the conversion that also calls for a new 23-story tower to the west of the original 111 year-old structure.

Renderings Revealed for HAP NINE at 247 East 117th Street in East Harlem

HAP Investment Developers first announced 247-249 East 117^th Street in 2017 following a purchase of the build site for an estimated $3.2 million. Today, the project is known as HAP NINE, and YIMBY has a first look at the design’s renderings from Fischer + Makooi Architects.

New Permits Filed for 376-378 Flushing Avenue, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for two eight-story mixed-use buildings at 376 and 378 Flushing Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The site is right on the border with Williamsburg. The Flushing Avenue subway station, serviced by the G train, is nine blocks away. Manhattan-based Riverside Developers USA is behind the applications.

Permits Filed for 43-36 53rd Street, Woodside, Queens

Permits have been filed for a five-story residential building at 43-36 53rd Street in Woodside, Queens. The site is two blocks away from the 52nd Street Lincoln Avenue subway station, serviced by the 7 trains. The lot is also right next to the Queens Boulevard thoroughfare, which extends from JFK Airport to the Queensboro Bridge, connecting Queens with Midtown Manhattan. Owner Jan How Kang is listed as responsible for the development.

New Renderings Revealed for The XI As First Tower Tops Out At 76 Eleventh Avenue in Chelsea

The newest Bjarke Ingels Group-designed project has now partially topped out. The taller 36-story component of the XI, at 76 Eleventh Avenue in Chelsea, has reached this milestone when just seven months ago, it was merely two stories high. With only a few months in between YIMBY’s visits, the enormous scale of the new building is quite shocking, as it rose incredibly quickly. The theatric nature of the twisting concrete sculpture certainly catches the attention of visitors from the High Line park, where many tourists are already snapping photographs. HFZ Capital Group is responsible for the development.

Updated Design Unveiled for 168 Plymouth Street, DUMBO Historic District

Alloy Development will today appear before the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission to obtain approval for a residential conversion in Brooklyn’s DUMBO Historic District. Located at 168 Plymouth Street, the development includes the transformation of a five-story structure at 50 Jay Street, and a neighboring seven-story building at 42 Jay Street.

Fresh Renderings Revealed For 115 Broadway in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Located in South Williamsburg, which like most of Brooklyn has been undergoing rapid and major changes over the past decade, a small building at the intersection of Broadway, South Sixth Street and Bedford Avenue, has some new renderings. Cayuga Capital Management LLC is the developer, and has revealed fresh new images of the project. They previously purchased the sharp, triangular vacant lot back in 2016.

The site is right by the major East Houston commercial thoroughfare, and seven blocks away from the Essex Street subway station, serviced by the F, J, M, and Z trains. Andres Hogg of Hogg Holdings is listed as responsible for the development.
