YIMBY’s 2019 New Building Report, released this time last year, showed a major jump in applications from 2017 into 2018, with new residential units filed with the Department of Buildings rising from 20,393 to 34,039. YIMBY’s 2020 New Construction Report shows that citywide gains continued into 2019, with total units filed increasing to 36,467, a jump of 2,428 or 7.1%. Alloy Development‘s 46-unit residential conversion project at 168 Plymouth Street is taking shape in the DUMBO, Brooklyn Historic District following approvals from the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The steel structure of the addition is being assembled atop the 99-year-old Concrete Daylight Factory, aka 42 Jay Street. Simultaneously, the adjacent 129-year-old Brick & Timber Building, aka 50 Jay Street, is also getting a one-story expansion.
Affordable and supportive housing developer Camper Property Group‘s latest project for low-income households and the formerly homeless is set to break ground at 913 East Tremont Avenue in West Farms, The Bronx. The estimated construction cost for the project is approximately $50 million, which is funded in part through tax-exempt bond financing, as of right tax credit equity provided by Wells Fargo, and public subsidies from the New York State Housing Finance Agency and New York State Homes and Community Renewal.
