St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Wraps Up Construction in Manhattan’s Financial District

Work on the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is finally coming to a close on the verge of the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and developed by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the white marble-clad structure is prominently perched atop Liberty Park just south of the original World Trade Center complex in the Financial District, and is the long-awaited replacement for the former church of the same name that was destroyed by the collapse of the South Tower on 9/11.

Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s newest food hall is now open to the public in the Tin Building, a historic three-story building at 96 South Street in the Seaport District. Designed by Roman & Williams and developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation, the 53,000-square-foot structure was dismantled from its original location along the East River and rebuilt 32 feet away, directly adjacent to the SHoP-designed Pier 17. The $200 million project features six full-service restaurants, six fast-casual counters, four bars, a grocery store, and private dining space, all spread across two floors. The property is located off Fulton Street to the east of South Street and the FDR Drive.

Reform Temple of Forest Hills Reveals Plans for 71-11 112th Street in Forest Hills, Queens

Designed by COOKFOX Architects, the structure will yield flexible learning spaces, state-of-the-art STEAM classrooms, athletic facilities, a library, theater, music room, alumnae parlor, dining room and terrace with an edible garden, and a “FabLab.” Triton Construction is the general contractor and Terrain-NYC Landscape Architecture is the landscape designer for the property, which is located between Lexington and Park Avenues and is aiming for LEED certification.
