Winchester Green Breaks Ground at 315 Winchester Avenue in New Haven, Connecticut

Foundation Work Progresses for 740 Eighth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan

At number two on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 740 Eighth Avenue, a 1,067-foot mixed-use supertall skyscraper in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by ODA with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Extell, the 52-story structure will span 776,000 square feet with an 825-room hotel on the lower half and a public observatory with a drop ride attraction above. The property will also feature lower-level retail space, a restaurant on two of the upper floors, and a pool deck for hotel guests. Lendlease is the general contractor, WSP is the structural engineer, and Ancora Engineering is handling excavation and foundations for the project, which is located along Eighth Avenue between West 45th and 46th Streets on the border of Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen.

520 Fifth Avenue’s Curtain Wall Takes Shape in Midtown, Manhattan

At number three on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 520 Fifth Avenue, a 1,000-foot residential supertall skyscraper in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 76-story structure will span 415,000 square feet and yield 98 condominium units with interior design by Charles & Co., as well as commercial space on the ground floor and four cellar levels. WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

Designed by Gerald Caliendo Architects and developed by Sam Eshaghoff’s West Egg Development, the structure will yield 38 units and 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space with 194 feet of frontage. Lions Group is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Northern Boulevard and 215th Place.
