Viñoly’s Jetsons-Esque Skyscraper at 249 East 62nd Street Revealed, Upper East Side

Rafael Viñoly has become one of the more prominent designers of Manhattan’s residential real estate in recent years, and today, YIMBY has the first rendering for the architect’s latest skyscraper, at 249 East 62nd Street on the Upper East Side. While the tower will technically comprise only 32 floors, it will stand 510 feet to its rooftop, taking advantage of a Jetsons-esque podium to boost its upper levels high into the neighborhood skyline.

Construction Resumes on The Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center

Back in December, YIMBY reported that work had appeared to stall for The Perelman Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center, in the Financial District. While things have appeared to remain in-stasis since then, news has now broken that Governor Cuomo has officially allowed construction of the new PAC. That means work should soon begin again on the site, and may partially explain the delays seen over the past few months.

The blocks of Midtown West feature some of the largest new developments of any neighborhood in the Five Boroughs, with the Moinian Group’s Sky containing the most apartments of any tower in the city, with over 1,100 in all. But just a few blocks to the northeast, the developer is nearing completion on a slightly smaller 164-unit building at 572 Eleventh Avenue, which will officially be named Oskar, and has now launched its teaser website.
