Since we last checked up on One Clinton Street, back in late August, it was only about nine stories above street level. Now, the 36-story residential tower is climbing past the halfway mark on its way to a 409-foot pinnacle. The Marvel Architects-designed skyscraper is being developed by Hudson Companies, and will span 295,000 square feet when finished. The triangular-shaped property sits at the northern confluence of Cadman Plaza West and Clinton Street, and is also known as 280 Cadman Plaza. Located in Brooklyn Heights, the building will have 134 units and 114 off-site affordable units. One Clinton Street Library will be built on the lower floors, replacing the site’s formerly extant Brooklyn Heights Library.
Brooklyn Heights Library
Located at the confluence of Clinton Street and Cadman Plaza West and standing directly in front of One Pierrepont Plaza’s postmodern red and white facade, One Clinton Street, aka 280 Cadman Plaza West, is on the rise in Brooklyn Heights, on its way to a 409-foot-high pinnacle with 36 floors within. The tower is being designed by Marvel Architects and developed by Hudson Companies.
Development is underway for a new high-rise in Brooklyn Heights. It has been less than a year since the old Brooklyn Heights branch of the Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) was demolished, at 280 Cadman Plaza West. Work has progressed swiftly since, and thanks to images from Tectonic, we can confirm the new skyscraper has reached its second floor, with foundation work now apparently complete.
Last month, the City Council greenlighted the controversial plan to sell and redevelop the Brooklyn Heights Library into condos and a new library. Now the project has moved one step closer to reality, because Hudson Companies has filed building applications for a 36-story tower at 1 Clinton Street.
